How do you work out a trade show's cost per lead?

The answer, first

Add up what the show cost you, the booth, the travel and the rest, and divide it by the leads you captured there. That is the cost per lead. The sharper number divides the same cost by only the leads that fit what you sell, because a cheap pile of the wrong people is not a cheap show. Decide before the show how many leads would make it worth it, so the number has something to beat.

Set it up before the show

1
Pick the goal. What should your follow-ups drive at: book a demo, get the quote out, send the pricing sheet, or your own. MeetDrop keeps it for the next show too.
2
Say what would make it worth it. Under More about this show, the number of leads that would justify going.
3
Enter what it costs. The booth and the travel, on the same screen.

Where the number appears

With an Event Pass or Pro, Analytics shows the show's cost per lead. On Pro the show's card goes further: the cost per strong-fit lead, counted only over the leads that match your ideal customer.

Put next to your other shows, it tells you which ones to book again. Measuring what a trade show was worth.
