How do you follow up after a trade show?

The answer, first

Send the first email within 24 hours, while the person can still picture your face. Reference one specific thing from the conversation, keep it under 120 words, and ask for one small next step rather than a vague catch-up. The hard part is not the wording. It is doing that for two hundred people before the details blur together.

Why the first day matters more than the message

A person walks a show floor and has sixty conversations. By the end of the week they remember perhaps four of them. Everything you write after that is competing with a blur, which is why a rough email on Tuesday beats a polished one the following Monday.

This is also why the generic "great to meet you at the show" email fails. It gives the reader nothing to place you by, so it arrives as one of forty identical messages and is deleted with the rest of them.

What to put in the email

1
The specific thing. The problem they described, the booth they had come from, the thing you both laughed about. One line is enough, and it is the line that does all the work.
2
What you actually do — in their words, not your positioning. Two sentences. They already heard the pitch; this is the reminder, not a repeat.
3
One next step. A time, a link, a sample they can open. Not "let me know if you would like to chat", which puts the work back on the person who has forty other emails.
4
Your face, if you have it. A photo taken at the booth is the fastest way back into someone's memory, and almost nobody sends one.

Doing it for two hundred leads

The method above is easy for five people and impossible for two hundred, which is the real reason follow-up slips. Most exhibitors leave the show with a spreadsheet of names and no memory attached to any of them, and the emails go out a week later saying nothing in particular.

That gap is what MeetDrop is for. You describe the conversation out loud at the booth, and the follow-up is drafted from what you said and waiting for you to send before you reach the next handshake. Nothing leaves without you pressing send.

Try it without signing up. Describe yourself out loud and the follow-up your lead would receive is emailed to you.
