How do you capture leads when your booth is packed?

The answer, first

Get the card, get one sentence, and let them go. Everything else can wait. A packed booth tempts you to skip capturing and keep talking, and that is how the best hour of the show turns into a pile of names. Capture each person while they are still standing there: say the note out loud with them, and move on to the next.

Card, one sentence, next

When three people are waiting, the instinct is to keep talking and promise yourself you will write it all up tonight. Tonight you will have forty cards and no memory of which one wanted the quote.

The minimum that survives a busy hour is two things: who they are, which the card gives you, and why they stopped, which only you know.

Capture them while they're standing there

Two habits fail at a packed booth. Typing a full note with people waiting is slow and looks rude. A badge scan alone is fast, but it records who stopped, not why.

1
Take the card, or snap a photo of it.
2
Say one sentence out loud, with them there: "I'm here with David. Let's send him our partner agreement page."
3
Let them go and turn to the next person.

Say the note with them

Saying it in front of them is not awkward; it shows you were listening, and they can correct you on the spot.

In MeetDrop that sentence is the note. Press send and the follow-up goes out with the page in it, so they leave with it already in their inbox. If you would rather check every email first, nothing sends until you press send. How sending works.
