Can MeetDrop read a business card?

The answer, first

Yes. Photograph the card and MeetDrop reads the contact details off it, so the lead is complete even when the conversation was short. The card's fields take priority over anything picked up from speech, because the card is the person's own printing and a speech recogniser mishears names. Every field stays editable, and your edit wins over both.

Why the card outranks the voice note

Names and email domains are exactly where speech recognition fails, and they are exactly the two fields that make a lead reachable or not. A card is printed, proofread and handed over on purpose.

So the order is fixed: what you said, then the card over the top of it, then your own corrections last. The app labels each overridden field so you can see where a value came from.

Cards that are hard to read

Foil logos, white text on navy, a watermark behind the type — real cards are much harder than a clean white rectangle, and a reader that has only been tried on the easy ones will quietly invent details on the hard ones.

The reader that ships is measured against a bank of cards with known answers, and the measurement that matters is the wrong column rather than the missing one. A blank field is one you can fill in. A confidently wrong field silently overrides what you actually said.

What happens to the image

The card photo is sent to be read and stored nowhere. It is never attached to the follow-up email. A photo of the two of you is the opposite — it is attached on purpose, because it is the fastest way back into someone's memory.

Photograph a card on the demo and watch the fields fill themselves in.
