How do you get business cards into your CRM?

The answer, first

Photograph each card, let an app read the fields off the print, correct the two or three it got wrong, and import the result. For Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive on Pro that last step is a live connection; for everything else it is a CSV import. The step people skip is the correction, which is how a misread email address becomes a lead nobody can contact.

Why reading the card beats typing it

A card is the person's own spelling of their own name and their own domain. Typed at a noisy booth from memory, both go wrong often enough to matter, and a wrong email address is a lead that silently never existed.

Card reading is also the one part of capture that is genuinely hard: foil logos, white text on navy, a watermark behind the type. Any tool you pick should be tested against cards like that rather than against a clean white rectangle.

The four steps

1
Photograph the card at the booth, not that evening from a pile. A pile loses which card belongs to which conversation.
2
Let the reader fill the fields, and keep whatever the card says over whatever was typed — the card was printed, the memory was not.
3
Correct anything that looks wrong while you still remember the person. This is the step that decides whether the list is usable.
4
Export and import. CSV out, CSV in, once, at the end of the show rather than per lead.

Three ways cards reach Salesforce

Whichever you pick, the step that decides the list is still the correction before anything syncs.

How it worksExample
A scanner app with a Salesforce exportScan, check, export as Leads or Contacts; the export is on a paid planScanBizCards: free app; CRM export from $100 per user a year; human transcription 20–25¢ a card
A package from Salesforce AppExchangeInstalled in your org by an admin; cards land in a queue or as LeadsSeveral, such as Vision-e and Scan to Salesforce; card reading usually on a paid tier
A capture app with a live syncThe card read at the booth becomes a Lead, with the conversation attached and no file in betweenMeetDrop Pro: Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive; CSV on every plan

What MeetDrop does here today

MeetDrop reads the card and merges it with what you said about the person, with the card's fields taking priority over the speech. Every field stays editable and your edit wins over both.

On export: CSV is live on every plan and imports into any CRM. On Pro, Salesforce, HubSpot and Pipedrive are live one-way syncs into your own account — cards read at the booth become records without a file in between. See what is actually connected.
