How do I set up MeetDrop before a trade show?

The answer, first

Five things: add the show you are going to, say what you want out of it, choose how many follow-ups each lead gets, verify your sending domain if you are on Pro, and capture one test lead to see what it writes. About twenty minutes in total — except the domain, which is DNS and should be done days before rather than in the taxi.

The order that matters

1
Add the show. Start typing the name and take the suggestion if it appears — the dates and city fill themselves in. Make it your default so captures file against it without you choosing.
2
Say what you want. Whether you are exhibiting or attending, what you are showing, and what a good outcome is. This is the single input that changes what the emails say.
3
Choose the follow-up length. None, one, two or four, set for this show specifically if it deserves more or less than your usual.
4
Verify your sending domain if you are on Pro. DNS records, so start this days ahead.
5
Capture one test lead. Describe an imaginary person out loud and read the email. If it does not sound like you, fix the wording now rather than after forty real captures.

The step people skip, and regret

The fifth one. It takes two minutes and it is the only way to find out that your pitch line reads oddly, or that you meant something different by your goal, while there is still time to change it.

Every other step is configuration. That one is the rehearsal, and the cost of skipping it is a show's worth of emails that are subtly wrong.

On the morning

  • Check the right show is the default, especially if you did two in a month.
  • Check your working hours if you have flown into another timezone.
  • Expect the hall to have no signal. Captures are held on the device and sync later, so this does not need solving.

Unlimited leads free, no card. Set it up for your next show and see what the first email looks like.
