An event is not a folder to file leads in. It is the context every follow-up from that show is written from — the show's name, whether you were exhibiting or attending, what you were showing, and the next step you want. Without one, the emails are written from what you said about the person and nothing else, which is noticeably thinner.
The difference it makes to an email
With no event, a follow-up can only refer to the conversation. With one, it can say where you met, why you were there, and what you want next — which is the difference between an email that reads like a reminder and one that reads like a stranger's.
It also means the show's name is spelled correctly in every email, which sounds trivial until you have typed it forty times.
What else it unlocks
- A per-show recap — captures, emails, replies — so one show can be compared with another.
- A follow-up length for that show specifically, overriding your usual setting.
- Grouping, so exporting one show's leads does not mean picking rows out of a list.
- Sharing, on a team: one show can be handed to one teammate without giving them everything.
Site visits and meetings count
Nothing about an event has to be a trade show. An open house, a site visit, a week of customer meetings — anything with a name, a window and a reason you were there works the same way and produces the same recap.
